2. How can weaknesses be used by God to redirect us in ways we could never know if we relied only on our strengths?

Strengths can become weakness when the focus is on self and not God who blessed us with the strength or gift or talent.
Weaknesses can be used by God to help us look to Him and depend on Him for the strength we would not otherwise possess to accoomplish things that He alone would receive the glory for.
A strength could become a weakness if we become so focused on our own strengths and abilities and neglect our time with God because we think we have it "all figured out".
Sometimes when we are weak that is the very thing that will get us on our kness, seeking God's love and direction in our lives. Other times, when we've gone through something others would call a weakness, an addiction or a divorce for example, only then are we are able to comfort or help someone in a similar situation. They may not be able to identify with someone who hasn't been where they are, but when you are willing to share with them how God has brought you through something, or help them in some way, I would say that's God turning a weakness into a strength.
